Do It Yourself Wedding Garter

If you're reading this you're most likely getting married soon so congratulations! If you're like me you've been searching for the perfect wedding garter but soon realized they are expensive! Who knew a tiny piece of fabric could cost $60?! I debated on splurging or making one myself, I decided to save the money and make one. It was actually such a fun and relaxing process. I put an old movie on, made some tea and got to work! There are so many different types of garters you can make, I was going for a boho/simple look. Feel free to add as much bling as you'd like! I went to Joann Fabrics and got all my supplies for under $9. I could easily make 10 garters out of the supplies I got totaling each garter at under $1!! WOW! Enough rambling, let's get started!

MEASURE your leg where you would like your garter to sit, cut your elastic to that size.

CREATE small flowers from the chiffon fabric, here is the video I followed. I was so surprised how easy it was to create these flowers! I made my circles about an inch in diameter rather than 3 inches like the video so that the flower was dainty.

SEW on your floral appliqué, you can either sew this directly onto the elastic or sew the ends of the elastic to the ends of the appliqué that way the elastic does not run through the design.  Lastly, sew on your chiffon flowers you made. Taaaaa-daaaaa it was that easy!
